We Are This Close to Ending Polio

“It is unacceptable that polio continues to infect our children and cause such suffering in Nigeria.”                         — Sir Emeka Offor – Polio Ambassador to Nigeria

Rotarian Sir Emeka backs his words by action, and we are delighted to announce his latest initiative. Through the amazing generosity of the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation working in partnership with Rotary International and UNICEF, 15,000 Speaking Books are being created for Nigeria to educate local communities about the importance of vaccinating children, maintaining a clean environment, and hand washing to help eradicate Polio.
This Speaking Book “Yes To Health…No To Polio” with16 pages of easy to understanding text, illustrations, and a sound track recorded in Hausa and English will be distributed by UNICEF’s  Volunteer Community Mobilisers to reach the most vulnerable population with critical life saving messages.
Speaking Books to support the Rotary End Polio Now campaign have already been distributed in Pakistan with phenomenal success and we have every reason to expect that this even larger intervention will be even more successful.
According to Alina Visram, Manager Polio Plus Pakistan:  “I know Speaking Books will be instrumental in educating communities to rid us of this terrible scourge that cripples children for life.”
